The Road To The Main Event

By Fred Alberti
Sunday is on its way, how about a little perspective...

Prayer Warrior Ministries - Maximizing JesusI've been studying to put the events leading up to the Lord's supper in perspective and I would like to share my findings so you can experience a greater understanding of these last few weeks
before our Lord's Main Event.

I believe that sometime within the 30 days before Christ's crucifixion, Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead.  I base this on the events as recorded in John.  It just doesn't seem as though very much time passed between that and Christ's triumphal entry into Jerusalem.

According to Luke, Jesus healed blind Bartimaeus on His way to Jericho, where He then had dinner with Zacchaeus.  I would put this all in the week prior to Jesus entering Jerusalem.

John tells us that on Saturday Jesus visited Bethany where He was anointed with expensive perfume in the house of Simon the leper.

John also indicates that on Sunday Jesus borrowed a donkey and rode into Jerusalem.

Mark tells us about Jesus cursing a fig tree on Monday on His way to the temple where He proceeded to clear out the money changers.

Mark continues the story by telling us that on Tuesday, while on their way back to the temple the disciples noticed the cursed fig tree was all dried up.

When Jesus arrived at the temple, He was then questioned about whoJerusalem had given Him His authority.  (They were probably angry that
He had disrupted the temple the day before. )  While there, He also took notice of the widow who gave all she had.  (I wonder if He was also thinking of His own sacrifice soon approaching.)

On Tuesday or Wednesday Jesus was again anointed, this time by Mary the sister of Lazarus.

From the outside looking in_sm And lastly, The Lord's supper was served on Thursday.  That night He was arrested and delivered to be crucified Friday morning.  He died that afternoon and was buried.

Ah...But on Sunday the Main event came to a close as He defeated death.  Praise God!!!

Let's remember His sacrifice for us that ended with His victory. Last Judgement

May the King of kings and Lord of lords richly bless you as we celebrate His victory and await His return.

In Service to the Risen Lord,

Fritz
